About Me
Growing up in Melbourne, Monette dedicated most of her life to the sport of Gymnastics. Her instant rise in the Australian ranks showed amazing promise, and she had the talent to match. At the age of 16 years old Monette’s dream of going to the Olympic Games became a reality when she competed in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. History was made later in 2005, where Monette again took on the world at the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne, and won an individual Bronze Medal. This making her Australia’s first ever all around medalist at a World Championships.
After leading her Commonwealth Games team to the gold medal in 2006, Monette sustained a serious knee injury prior to the World Championships. The injury forced her out of the team, and eventually led to her retirement from the sport. Despite her small stature, Monette is a pocket rocket with a self-driven attitude that has seen her succeed in and out of the gymnastics world. A Public Relations graduate, Australia Day Ambassador and Gymnastics Australia Hall of Fame Recipient are just some of Monette’s achievements post gymnastics.
Presenting and communicating with the public is Monette’s greatest passion and has allowed her to host and commentate for Fox Sports coverage of the International Gymnastics World Cup Circuit in Melbourne & Australian Gymnastics Championships.
Now living in Queenstown, New Zealand, Monette is the Community Manager at Startup Queenstown Lakes. She is responsible for supporting and growing the startup ecosystem of Queenstown Lakes District. With 10+ years working in the media and events industry, she has extensive experience in creating large scale events and bringing people together. Her attention to detail is flawless and she is excited to share her knowledge and passion with the community of Central Otago.
Her bubbly and confident personality resonates with all audiences, and Monette or “Netty” (as her friends and family call her) is loved most for her warm personality and sense of adventure!
